The Eagle Elite series is without a doubt a series that one day I'll be passing to my kids to read and they'll devour just as quickly and earnestly as I do. The entire series has everything that makes a book great. Romance. Suspense. Heart break. Friendship. Love. And somehow, some way, every book gets better. How Rachel Van Dyken accomplishes this, I will never know.

Elude is a story of two incredible people who are brought together as individuals suffering alone. It's a story of those two individuals discovering that suffering alone just isn't going to work for them anymore. Andi and Sergio's story had me weeping, laughing, rejoicing and fanning myself (there's some super steamy scenes!!). I loved how Andi's this little Russian spit fire who isn't afraid to put Sergio (or Tex, Phoenix, Chase or Nixon) in his place. She's head strong, a spit fire but at the same time vulnerable. And I think her vulnerability is what I loved the most about Andi. She owns it. She's not ashamed of who she is - whether she's putting a mafia boss on their a$$ (quite literally) or if she's needing the support of Sergio, she's proud of who she is. I love how Sergio is this hot gun-wielding mafia power house who shows this incredible soft side. Sergio, the designer clothes loving, hot as heck car driving, fierce protector, computer hacking genius, has a soft side. And that soft side? Yeah. You can guess who that is.

In Elude we also get to see the power of the friendships of the Elite. They all come together and work together through some pretty crazy and scary stuff. And they do it without question. Without any argument. They do it because they love each other & are family, blood or not. The true love that they all have for each other warmed my heart throughout.

"But we're together. When you have a partner things are less scary because suddenly you aren't facing giants all by yourself."

Elude has all the elements of greatness. I could list them ... but really, wouldn't you just rather read it? Find out for yourself? :) In all seriousness, I can't express enough how much Sergio and Andi's story made me feel. It's beautiful, heart pounding, eye leaking great.

"It's a two-twirl moment."
I just want to say what an incredible way for everyone to live their lives. Andi showed me that sometimes in life, we just need to twirl. And it's a beautiful thing.

This book was really good. I you will definitely want to have a box of tissues nearby. You will need them. I sobbed through about 20% of the book. To the point that I couldn't see the words on my kindle.

This book really makes you think about death. It puts into perspective to love life to the fullest. Don't give up. Always do everything possible to make the best of what you have.

Andi is a fun, take no crap, sarcastic, Russian beauty. She loved life and even though she knew she was dying she didn't let it bring her down. She wanted to make the best of her life.

Sergio is the family ghost that we don't know a lot about. He is a brooding, angry man. He doesn't want anything to do with anyone who might make him feel. He wants to be left alone. But maybe what you want isn't always what you need.

I loved the interaction between Sergio and Andi. The chemistry between them was palpable through the pages. You would think that they would kill each other with all the tension between them at first. Neither wanted to be thrown into their circumstances, but it ended up being what they both needed.

Rachel has done it again. She has delivered another page turner that will leave you NEEDING more now. You won't want to put this book down, but when you get to the end you'll be gutted and wish you hadn't read it so fast.
This series!!!
ELUDE had so much heart in it. This particular instalment seemed less about the guns and mafia and more about the love. it was softer but in a most impactful and heart rendering way. Rachel Van Dyken truly knows how to take an antihero and make him a hero. Make you fall for the one you thought you'd dislike so, so much.
Elude is right up there with Ember as one of my favorite stories. I think because of the "redemption factor." Sergio and Andi for that matter are trained assassins who seemingly don't have a heart. Together they bled out... feelings, emotion, love and all the feels.
I have become so invested in this series and Elude is one of the biggest reasons. Van Dyken, manages to mingle all the violence with moments of humor, compassion and sexiness while maintaining humanity, compassion and love.
Also, I should note I absolutely love how Rachel Van Dyken can have such intensity and sexiness in her books without graphic and lewd language or explicitly detailed sex scenes. In fact, I think it makes it more so.

This book is really well written, has no glaring grammatical errors or typos, and I came to care a lot about the characters. The dialogue was natural and often funny, and I enjoyed reading this story. I was, however, completely unprepared for the ending, and probably would not have read this book if I knew beforehand how it played out. With that in mind, for anyone else who like to know these things Massive Spoiler Alert! The prologe indicates that Sergio is a match and can save Andi's life (she has leukemia). This is untrue and the author later delivers a sucker-punch by letting Andi die! Even when we learn Sergio is not a match, I kept waiting for a donor to save the day. This does not happen. Andi dies. Personally I read for escapism and I need happy endings. Andi healed Sergio, made him love life and gave him an instruction, and her blessing, to pursue the woman she believes he was meant to be with. Sergio is okay now. I am not. Do I regret reading this book? No; But I am sad and unsatisfied. I love Sergio and Andi together. Not sure I want to see Sergio fall in love with another woman, so I doubt I'll read the next book.
