I purchased this kindle book based on rave reviews by several bloggers (although those reviews were for the first edition, titled Large Family Logistics). I have 4 kids ages 8, 4 1/2, 3 and 1 and am expecting #5. This book was very interesting and I did garner some useful tips. However, while there is information that would be useful for any size family, this book is definitely geared towards a certain family type...homeschooled and probably a minimum of 7 kids. Mine are all mostly young enough that we can't implement the "buddy system" and I don't homeschool past preschool, so a good chunk of the ideas just weren't applicable to my particular life. I still think it is a good book, and I do find it fascinating how really big homeschooling families do manage to do it all.
This is lovely... a homemaking 101 for those of us who are ignorant... so many tips and great suggestions. Definitely going to be read over and over..
In 9 years we have moved more than 10 times and have added 5 kids. I was feeling so disorganized and anxious! I love the encouragement and structure this book gives!
Writing is clear and easy to follow. She doesn't stress you out with a complicated system. Very much a "Here is what I do, you do you the best, do what works." motto. You know your family best.
Within a week of receiving this book, every dish and every stitch of laundry was caught up, and I had indulged in TWO spa nights. With four kids under seven, my mind had been racing for as long as I've been a mother, and this book allowed me to let go of the anxiety and be happy again. Thank you Mrs. Brenneman!
I'm a first time mom- loved all of the organization tips in this book. So thankful to have a blueprint on how to organize family life!
I've read Flylady, Sidetracked Home Executives, Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and other home management & cleaning books, but those books are better for childless folks or those who send their children to school/daycare during the day.
This book is the best for moms with kids still at home.
Although I have a large family and we homeschool, I still recommend this book to all mothers. If you struggle with day to day organization or home management, this is for you. I read a lot but only have a few books out at all times. My Bible, Trim Healthy Mama, and this book are always handy! This book changed my life and I'm not kidding. I needed help and thought I needed a maid/ nanny. After implementing the ideas in this book, I now am on top of my game and didn't have to pay for help.
